Domain and Range
Domain and Range are two common terms used in reference to functions and data sets, respectively.
- Domain refers to the set of all possible values of x for a given function
- Range refers to the distance between the highest and lowest numbers in a data set, OR it can also refer to all of the possible output (or y) values for a given function
- When referring to a data set, the range is one, discrete number: “The range of the data set is 36”
- When referring to a function, the range will be a set of all possible outputs of the function
